Dr. Numal Momin was elected as MLA in the year 2016 from Bokajan constituency. He was born on 25th February, 1972 into a very poor farming family. He has matriculated from Balopathar H.S. school in 1989 and completed his H.S. from Diphu Govt. College. He is hard working by nature and imbibes the quest to learn and share knowledge. He joined as registrar of Medicine GMCH in 2011 and on 1st of March 2016, he finally resigned to contest Assembly election with the utmost motive of serving the people of Karbi Anglong and to take the region forward through his agenda of development. He has delivered plenty of humanitarian service to the people of Assam during his tenure as a doctor of medicine and has also organised many health camps in Karbi Anglong district in particular.

Bokajan

Bokajan(ST) LAC is spread over 2300 sq. Km is mostly a plain area formed by the river Dhansiri and its tributaries such as Kaliani, Doigurung, Nambar, Deopani and Laijan. It is populated with 2.3 lakh people of which 1.3 lakh are people eligible for their right to vote. The rural area comprises 419 inhabited villages. The constituency shares its border with Nagaland demarcated by the mesmerizing River Subansiri. The area is rich in naturally occurring minerals such as good quality Lime Stone, stone, sand, coil, China clay, etc. The Cement Factory of Bokajan (C.C.I) is one among three functional units owned completely by the Government of India. However, the population is mostly dependent on agriculture as a source of livelihood. The area is inhabited by diverse culturally rich indigenous people such as Assamese, Karbi, Garo, Kuki, Bodo, Bengali, Bihari, Nepali, Syam, Muslim, Rengma Naga, Dimasa, etc. The local people thrive upon the lush green rich natural vegetation and forests which are indispensable to their way of life. Bokajan is a naturally rich place which has potential for major industrial growth not only within the district but as a major site of the state of Assam.

Vision

My dream of a developed Bokajan is one where people from all sections of the society are benefited, where development is all rounded based on the key pillars of Good Health, Quality Education & Robust Infrastructure. I envision a Bokajan where in the coming years more youth will be educated, skilled, empowered, employed, healthy. Where more industries will be centered around its rich natural resources, the communities will be self-sufficient and live in harmony with each other.
